Reflection Post

Heyy guys!!! We have finally arrived at the end of this project. I have very mixed feelings about this project coming to an end, on one side I feel so relieved I don’t have to stress over this project any longer, but on the other side I feel nervous. Me and Lydia have put so much effort into our project and we really hope that is good enough, but one can’t ever really know what people are actually thinking. For my reflection post, I thought it would make sense to reflect back on those fun and not so fun parts of this project.

    The Research

The first part of this project, the first week, it seems so distant but it was only 2 months ago. Researching genre conventions and the little parts of every genre felt boring at times, but actually connecting the examples to movies I’ve watched before, made it just a tiny bit better, but still not the funnest part. I will say that learning about this world that I did not know about a year prior was extremely fun, I like learning to some extent, especially when it is about something I like.

    Planning

The actual time where we were able to start putting our ideas into paper. Looking back on it, seeing our idea grow from the genre we chose to the final idea we decided on is amazing. At first we wanted to make a mad scientist that makes a time machine to go back in time, our second idea was to make this guy go into a party and realize this was a different timeline. Lastly, the idea we all know and love, the idea we landed on, a girl who is making glasses that let her see into the future and ends up seeing her death. I feel really proud of us for coming up with an idea so creative, I love this idea and there is absolutely nothing I would change about it.

    Production

After finishing up with the idea we could finally start creating it. This came with TONS of planning, luckily for us most of the filming took place inside, which saved us from some unnecessary problems like the weather and lighting. Filming took a solid 3 and a half hours, and for a good chunk of it I had to fit in the tiniest gap between my desk and the wall, it is safe to say my back has not been the same since. After many laughs many retakes, and many adjustments we finished filming around 9 pm. Filming I would say was one of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had when related to a class. Wrapping up with filming was so relieving, it felt like such a weight lifted off of my shoulders.

    Post-Production

The day came to start editing with Lydia and oh boy was it difficult. At first we wanted to edit in DaVinci Resolve, but ended up having to move to ClipChamp. ClipChamp was not so easy either, by the time everything had exported into the software, a good chunk of our time had been wasted. But that did not hold us down, the next day we tried again, and we ended up editing nearly all of the opening. Soon after we got feedback on the editing, and made the changes accordingly, meaning the end of our portfolio project.

    CCRs!!

THE FINAL PART!! Oh my lord, after several weeks, finally came the actual last part. The two videos we are meant to do to talk about or project. I had so many ideas for both of my videos, and ended up recoding them with time. I feel so relieved to be done with this, I feel like I can finally breath.
